History and development

AutoCAD was originally a program for generating engineering and architectural drawings using a drafting board known as the “Mechanical Pen”. The pen generates a vector-based representation of an image on the drafting board. The vector is then sent to the video display to be displayed on the drafting board. Each pen point has its own coordinates within a Cartesian coordinate system, and moves when the mouse is moved. The original release of AutoCAD, titled AutoCAD 1981, was designed for use with the early CGA graphics adapters and an internal 34-bit color video display. The first versions of AutoCAD 1981 were limited to 2-dimensional drawing only.

AutoCAD 1983

In 1983, CAD applications began to be developed for personal computers. Most users, however, would continue to use a drafting board or tablet. In late 1983, Autodesk released a new version of AutoCAD for the Commodore 64. AutoCAD 1981 had become difficult to operate due to the quality of the video display. To resolve this issue, Autodesk developed a new drawing board called the Mechanical Pen Pad. AutoCAD 1984

AutoCAD 1984, released on November 4, 1984, was based on AutoCAD 1983 with several enhancements and additions. CAD application programs were beginning to be used for 3-dimensional drawing. In response to customer demand, AutoCAD included a vector editing and wireframe feature, enabling users to alter the 3-dimensional surface of the drawing. In Autodesk Autocad, go to File–>Export–>Import 3D model. In the Export settings, make sure that you set the file type to STL.

After exporting, save the STL file on your computer.

Open the STL file on your computer.

In the “Import Settings”, select the “Reference Plane” option.

Select “Make Auto.”

Now, you can move the points on the plane.

Select the plane that you want to use and click on the “Select” button.

You can select one or more points.

You can also add a 3D point.

You can change the view.

If you want, you can rotate the 3D model.

Close the STL file by going to “File” menu and then “Close”.

You have successfully completed the project.
